Leave early this morning on an exciting adventure, traveling to St Louis, MO, where you will have an opportunity to visit the Arch, the symbolic gateway to the west.  Our hotel is the Hilton St. Louis Downtown.  L  


TUESDAY june 11

Traveling on through Missouri and the Sunflower State of Kansas to Abilene, once the wildest town in the West. While here we will visit the Dwight Eisenhower Center. His boyhood home is kept as it was in 1946, and the Eisenhower Museum contains items relating to his life from boyhood to post-presidential years. The Eisenhower Presidential Library is here and the Place of Meditation, the final resting place of "Ike" and Mamie. All in one beautiful and peaceful setting. Overnight in Salina, KS. BL



Arrive in the foothills of the Rockies for a two night stay in Colorado Springs at the Quality Inn and Suites. A stop at the U.S.Air Force Academy gives us a look at the soaring chapel, buildings and grounds. An optional side trip this evening to Seven Falls. Cascading down a steep canyon in seven distinct steps, they are truly a sight to behold. C


A ride this morning to the summit of Pikes Peak.  A four hour round trip travels up historic Ute Pass on the Pikes Peak Highway.  On the way up, we make a stop at beautiful Crystal reservoir.  As the road climbs higher, each new curve offers yet another incredible mountain vista as we make our way to the summit of the spectacular 14, 115 – foot peak.  It was from the magnificent mountain the Katherine Lee Bates wrote “America the Beautiful.” On a clear day you can see Denver and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in southern Colorado and New Mexico which are 100 miles away.  This afternoon the Garden Of The Gods gives us a look at the beautiful, massive red sandstone formations.  C


Motor on through beautiful Colorado for a stop at the Royal Gorge and the world's highest suspension bridge. It spans the Gorge 1,053 feet above the Arkansas River. Our overnight is in Mesa Verde National Park at Far View Lodge.  A peaceful retreat that sits on a high shoulder of the mesa.  Enjoy the beautiful vistas reaching into three states. CLD


We have a guided tour through the largest and best preserved Anazazi Indian cliff dwellings in the Southwest while in in Mesa Verde National Park. Learn some of the mystery of these ancient peoples. We have a guided tour of the area.  Overnight in Holbrook, AZ.  B


This morning we will be visiting the Petrified Forest National Park.  The 93,533 acre park contains an abundance of colorful petrified logs from coniferous trees.  Dinosaurs once roamed this area and numerous fossil bones have been found.  The Painted Desert is near the end of this park.  This afternoon and evening one of the most awesome sights in the world will be yours to enjoy at the Grand Canyon. Glowing colors, magnificent vistas, and the mighty Colorado River seeming like a small stream over a mile straight down. Be sure to watch as the setting sun draws deepening shadows over the 10 mile width. C


Reluctantly leaving the Grand Canyon area this morning, we drive to Las Vegas, the neon tribute to tinseled affluence. A mid afternoon arrival gives us plenty of free time to explore this mega excitement filled town. We stay at Bally's Las Vegas. B


Leaving the fun of Las Vegas behind us we motor through the desert.. Crossing into California we arrive in Yosemite National Park, where we will overnight.  See El Capitan & Half Dome. Get out this evening and walk  to Yosemite Falls.  This is a region of unusual beauty on the western slope of the Sierra Nevada.  L


This morning we will visit beautiful Glacier Point in Yosemite National Park. This is one of the most beautiful sights in the United States.  Look down into the valley we visited the day before.  It is a breathtaking sight.  Then we travel on to San Francisco, CA for a two night stay. our hotel is the Holiday Inn at Fisherman Wharf.  L


This morning a city tour offers us a look at everything from the Golden Gate Bridge to Fisherman's Wharf. You have time to do some exploring on your own in this legendary city that rests on 40 hills (be sure to ride the cable car up some of them) at the tip of a narrow peninsula, bounded by the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay. We will make arrangements for anyone who is interested in a tour of Alcatraz as an option this afternoon. Please let us know when booking your tour. 


Reluctantly leaving this beautiful city by the sea, we head our coach eastward viewing the many grape vineyards surrounding Napa Valley. The Almond factory in Sacramento will be our next stop, where you can purchase almond delights. We’ll make a short stop at Lake Tahoe, which holds enough water to cover the entire state of California to a depth of 14 inches. Our overnight will be in Reno, NV, "The Biggest Little City in the World."


Traveling on through Nevada today, we head for Salt Lake City, Utah for a two night stay. We'll drive past the Bonneville Salt Flats and on to the capital of Utah. A spectacular setting at the foot of the Wasatch Mountains, with the Great Salt Lake visible to the northwest and the Great Salt Lake Desert to the west. BL


This morning we will attend a performance of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.  Later we will visit This Is the Place Heritage Park, where Brigham Young first saw the Salt Lake Valley.  We give you some free time this afternoon to do some exploring on your own. L


Departing Salt Lake City we travel to Yellowstone National Park via Jackson, Wyoming and the Grand Tetons. Stopping for a while in Jackson, WY noted for its Western flavor. We then go into Yellowstone Park for our overnight.  Our hotel tonight is the Old Faithful Inn. L


We’ll spend most of today viewing the beauty and splendor of the park. See the hot springs, the wildlife, and just take pride in this gorgeous scenic country of ours. Leaving Yellowstone reluctantly behind, we travel to Cody, Wyoming. This evening you may want to attend a real-live, rootin’-tootin’ rodeo, (Cody is known as the Rodeo Capital of the World), visit the wonderful Buffalo Bill Museum.  B


The beautiful scenery just won't quit as we drive through the mountainous region of Wyoming on our way to the Presidents' Mountain on Mount Rushmore near Rapid City, South Dakota. One of the largest sculptures ever created. We will visit Mt. Rushmore in the evening for the lighted program. A novel, emotionally moving event.  Overnight in Keystone, SD. L


This morning we visit the Crazy Horse Memorial, an ongoing project dedicated to the Native Americans of North America. When completed the carving will be 641 feet long by 563 feet high. An awesome sight. Stop today at the Wall Drug Store, can't miss this - the signs announce it for miles. A stop this afternoon at the world's only Corn Palace. Located in Mitchell, South Dakota, it was established in 1892 for a fall festival. It is redecorated each year with a variety of South Dakota grains and grasses. A sight to behold! Overnight in Sioux Falls, SD. CL


We travel on through the corn belt state of Iowa. This afternoon we will visit the John Deere Pavilion where you can “try out” the massive farming machinery.  Overnight in Bettendorf, Iowa at the Isle of Capri Casino Hotel. CLD


We end our journey to the wild and new west and overnight stays in FOUR National Parks. We travel homeward with an early evening arrival planned bringing with us great memories and new friendships. CL
