Flight 93 & The Quecreek Mine

thursday, June 27

flight 93 memorial.jpg

Somerset County has been called “America’s County” because of two like-changing events in which heroes lived and died in 2001 and 2002.  We experience the places that changed the way America lives. A tour guide will ensure we learn every aspect of this historic event that we vividly remember. Our first stop will be at the Flight 93 National Memorial and will include the Memorial Plaza with the Wall of Names of the Heroes of Flight 93, the Visitor’s Center, and the Tower of Voices, the final phase of this memorial. Passengers will receive a commemorative magnet “Remember the Heroes of Flight 93”. Our next stop will be the Flight 93 Memorial Chapel, which was dedicated on the first anniversary of 9/11.  Lunch today will be at the Coal Miners’ Café, a highly rated lunch stop by Trip Advisor. Your spirits will soar as we reach our final stop when we visit the Quecreek Mine Rescue Site.  On July 28, 2002 nine miners were miraculously rescued from 240 feet underground in a farmer’s field.  A day of remembrance and inspiration. A day to remember those that left their mark in history.
