WASHINGTON D.C.
AND
THE BUNKER AT THE GREENBRIER RESORT
JUNE 21-22, 2008
SATURDAY JUNE 21
We start out early this morning to an old favorite, our nation's capitol, Washington D.C. A stop will be made at Union Station for you to purchase your lunch. A bustling, beautifully renovated sight, with trains still running daily. We will then give everyone a chance to see the Washington National Cathedral. An idea dating from 1791, the foundation was finally laid in 1907. We have a guided tour of this magnificent Cathedral that opens it's doors to people of all faiths. The completion of the west towers in September 1990 marked the end of eighty-three years of construction. Our tour is scheduled, however, events at the cathedral have precedence over tours. A stop will be made at the W.W.II Memorial. Our hotel will be the Hampton Inn Alexandria. D
SUNDAY JUNE 22
An early departure this morning to travel to White Sulphur Springs, WV. The road we take, I-64, is one that was built specifically to be the fastest route between D.C. and White Sulphur Springs, and just coincidentally it's one of the most scenic roads in the U.S. A beautiful drive. Once we arrive at the Greenbrier Resort, we'll have a tour of the Bunker. A carefully kept secret for over 30 years it was built between 1959-1962 to protect the federal government during the Cold War. The best kept secret in America. You'll be amazed by the story, plus be able to look around the beautiful Greenbrier Resort. A late evening arrival home.C
